Product Description
A long lightweight gentle oval shaped paddle made from the trunk of a red palm tree. Technically this paddle is not even timber, as palms are part of the grass family of plants.
The surface of the paddle contains very small undulations as the flesh of palm trees varies in texture and hardness and this can be brought out during the sanding process.
The paddle has a brass handle hole and a smooth satin polyurethane varnish finish.
This wood for this paddle was sold to me as a board of red palm. I believe the palm species is Cocos nucifera, however there are several other species commonly called red palm and I am not familiar enough with palms to have complete confidence in my species assessment, which is based primarily on photographs and botanical descriptions.
This handcrafted paddle was created in Miss Emm's workshop in Sydney's inner west, where beautiful impact toys come to life.
