Product Description
There are two sides to this paddle. One side has a stunning reddish brown handle and beige blade with approximately 150 brass dots forming the outline of a small paddle around the handle and centre of the blade. This side of the blade is gently curved. The other side is all reddish brown with again approximately 150 brass dots forming a flame-like pattern on the completely blade face.
This paddle is large. Whilst it's also quite heavy it is not heavy for its size as camphor laurel is not a dense timber. It'll require a little more effort than many smaller paddles for an extended paddling session but that effort will be worth it :)
In creating this paddle I spent a lot of time carefully trimming each face to achieve the two contrasting looks. It was a case of the the desired end result dictating the flat and curved blade faces in order to do so. I must say I am especially proud of the result, which turned out just how I had hoped and imagined when first looking at a large rectangular block of wood.
